FAQs
WHAT IS THE LIFT PILATES CLASS?
At Lift Pilates, we offer a unique, community-driven approach to Pilates through our open studio concept. You’ll work on a personalized program at your own pace, alongside others who are on their own Pilates journeys, creating a supportive and motivating environment.
Your program will include exercises on the reformer and mat, forming the foundation of your Pilates practice. From there, we incorporate other apparatus—such as the Cadillac, Wunda Chair, and more—to support your body, build strength, and improve flexibility. This holistic approach ensures a well-rounded workout tailored to your needs and goals.
I’M A BEGINNER AND HAVE NEVER DONE PILATES.
Whether you’re new to Pilates or experienced and refining your practice, we’re here to support you. This flexible, encouraging environment has helped clients of all levels see remarkable progress by allowing them to attend more frequently and grow together in the studio.
IS THE LIFT PILATES CLASS A CIRCUIT?
No, the Lift Pilates class is not a circuit. It’s a unique exercise experience where you follow a personalized Pilates program tailored to your needs, with individualized coaching. This class offers a level of customization and attention that you won’t find in other exercise formats—it’s truly one of a kind.
WILL EVERYONE DO THE SAME EXERCISE ON THE SAME EQUIPMENT?
Not at all. Our studio features the complete repertoire of classical Pilates apparatus, with multiple pieces of each type. This allows us to customize a program specifically for your needs. During your initial private lesson, we’ll work together to create a plan that aligns with your goals and abilities, ensuring you get the most out of every session.
WILL I NEED TO MEMORIZE MY WORKOUT?
Over time, you’ll naturally start to remember your personalized Pilates program as you become more confident. But don’t worry—I’ll be there to guide you every step of the way. You’ll also have your Pilates program outlined on an exercise card, which you’ll rely on less and less as you progress.
IS THE LIFT PILATES CLASS FOR EVERYONE?
The Lift Pilates class is designed for those committed to learning the original Pilates method as Joseph Pilates intended. This isn’t a cookie-cutter workout; it’s a personalized approach that requires dedication and a willingness to invest in your progress. For those who embrace the challenge, the authentic and transformative power of Pilates awaits.
WHAT IF I HAVE INJURIES?
We will absolutely work around your injuries. Many clients come to me with conditions like back pain, shoulder strain, or post-surgical recovery needs. Pilates is incredibly adaptable, and we’ll tailor your program to ensure you can continue to move and strengthen your body safely. The body naturally wants to heal itself when everything is in balance, and that’s my focus—supporting your strength, alignment, and progress safely while respecting any current limitations. Your safety and progress are always my top priorities.
HOW MANY PRIVATE LESSONS WILL I NEED BEFORE JOINING?
Typically, just one private lesson is enough to get you started in our Lift Pilates Class, where we’ll create a personalized program tailored just for you. I may recommend occasional half-hour private sessions to support your early progress, but as you grow more independent, these additional lessons will become less frequent.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU TAUGHT PILATES?
I’ve been teaching Pilates for over 20 years, with experience in group reformer classes, group mat classes, contemporary Pilates, and thousands of private lessons. Through this journey, I’ve found that the open studio format of Lift Pilates is the most effective way to help clients develop a Pilates practice tailored to their unique needs.
DO I NEED SPECIAL EQUIPMENT OR CLOTHING?
We provide all the necessary equipment in our studio. For clothing, we recommend wearing comfortable, form-fitting attire that allows freedom of movement. Bare feet or grip socks work best for stability and safe movements on the equipment.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I ATTEND TO SEE RESULTS?
For best results, we suggest practicing Pilates at least 2-3 times a week. Consistency is key for building strength, flexibility, and achieving lasting changes. Many clients notice improvement within just a few weeks of regular practice.
WHAT KIND OF RESULTS CAN I EXPECT FROM CLASSICAL PILATES?
Classical Pilates helps build strength, flexibility, and posture while reducing the risk of injury. With regular practice, you may notice increased energy, improved balance, and relief from chronic pain, among other benefits.
