About Lift Pilates

Lift Pilates is a classical Contrology studio built on structured, progressive development.

Unlike most Pilates studios — contemporary or classical — Lift Pilates does not divide clients into level-based classes. Each client follows an individualized program within our Guided Studio setting, progressing through the full system over time.

The work is sequenced. The rhythm matters. Progression is earned.

This is not drop-in fitness. It is disciplined practice.

About Laura Shearer

Laura Shearer has taught Pilates for over two decades and trained extensively in the classical method, including graduate-level study with Jay Grimes, a direct student of Joseph Pilates.

Her work is rooted in that lineage: structured, comprehensive, and grounded in the integrity of the full system.

Over the years, Laura continued to refine her approach through advanced study and mentorship, including ongoing collaboration with Wade Edwell of Proper Pilates in Australia. His mentorship helped deepen her understanding of rhythm, progression, and independent practice within a structured environment — shaping the guided open studio model at Lift Pilates.

At Lift Pilates, individualized programs are practiced within this guided open studio format: a teacher-led studio environment designed for long-term development, consistency, and meaningful strength — not short-term workouts.
